◆メッセージ
学校法人西南学院は、1916年の創立以来、100年を超える歴史の中で、「建学の精神」に基づいて、多様性を尊重、包摂し、公正性を持って、学生や生徒、児童、園児への教育・研究に取り組んでまいりました。
科学技術の発展や急速なグローバル化の進展により、私たちの社会は、日々刻々と複雑化、多様化しています。現在のように社会の複雑化、多様化が進む中では、これまで以上に互いの尊厳を守り、尊重しあうことが求められています。
学校法人西南学院は、今ここに改めて、多様性を認め合う学院づくり（ダイバーシティ、エクイティ＆インクルージョン）を推進することを社会に宣言し、学校法人西南学院に関わる全ての人々が、それぞれの立場や違いを超えて、主体的に関わり合うことができるよう取り組んでまいります。

◆推進宣言および基本方針
多様性を認め合う学院づくりに向けた宣言
～西南学院ダイバーシティ、エクイティ＆インクルージョン推進宣言～
新約聖書のルカによる福音書10章25節から37節「善きサマリア人のたとえ」において、イエスは、追いはぎにあったユダヤ人に対して、様々な違いを越えて手を差し伸べたサマリア人こそが、このユダヤ人にとっての真の隣人になったと説きました。
民族や国籍、宗教、文化、身体的・精神的特徴、価値観など、多様性に富む社会で、互いの境界を主体的に越え、他者を自分の隣人として受け入れ、互いの尊厳を守り、尊重しあうというダイバーシティ、エクイティ＆インクルージョンは、キリスト教精神に立脚する西南学院の教育理念に通底するものです。
西南学院は、創立者C.K.ドージャーの遺訓「西南よ、キリストに忠実なれ」を建学の精神とし、キリスト教精神に基づき、「真理の探求および優れた人格の形成に励み、地域社会および国際社会に奉仕する創造的な人を育てる」という学院の使命を達成するために、様々な取り組みを進めてまいりました。
いまここに、改めて西南学院は、園児、児童、生徒、学生、教職員、同窓生、その家族や友人、様々な協力者に至るまで、学院に関わる全ての人々が手を取り合い、それぞれの個性を「賜物」として認め合う、隣人愛に生きる各学校・園・保育所であり続けることを約束し、基本方針を定めた上で、ダイバーシティ、エクイティ＆インクルージョンの推進に取り組むことを宣言します。
《基本方針》
１．隣人愛としてのダイバーシティ、エクイティ＆インクルージョンの共有
西南学院は、ダイバーシティ、エクイティ＆インクルージョンを学院に関わる全ての人々の間で共有できるよう、知識の習得や意識の醸成を目指した取り組みを進めます。
２．文化的多様性の尊重
西南学院は、教育や研究をはじめとしたあらゆる学びと働きの場において、学院に関わる全ての人々の国籍・民族・言語・宗教などの文化的多様性が尊重されるように努め、それぞれの個性と能力を十分に発揮できる環境を構築します。
３．ジェンダー平等の促進
西南学院は、教育や研究をはじめとしたあらゆる学びと働きの場において、学院に関わる全ての人々が、ジェンダーによるいかなる不利益を被ることなく、それぞれが対等かつ公平にその役割と責任を担うことができるよう、ジェンダー平等を促進します。
４．ＳＯＧＩＥの多様性の尊重
西南学院は、教育や研究をはじめとしたあらゆる学びと働きの場において、学院に関わる全ての人々のＳＯＧＩＥ（Sexual Orientation：性的指向、Gender Identity：性自認、Gender Expression：ジェンダー表現）の多様性が尊重され、安心して個性と能力を十分に発揮できるよう、相談・支援体制を整えます。
５．障がいのある人への理解と支援
西南学院は、教育や研究をはじめとしたあらゆる学びと働きの場において、学院に関わる全ての人々が、安心して個性と能力を十分に発揮できるよう、それぞれの障がいの状態や特性、ニーズを理解したうえで合理的配慮を行うとともに、相談・支援体制を整えます。
６．ユニバーサルデザインの推進
西南学院は、教育や研究をはじめとしたあらゆる学びと働きの場において、学院に関わる全ての人々が、不自由や負担を感じることなく、安全かつ公平にそれぞれの個性と能力を十分に発揮できるよう、ユニバーサルデザイン化に向けた取り組みを進めます。
Declaration to Promote Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) at Seinan Gakuin
In the Gospel of Luke 10:25-37, known as the "Parable of the Good Samaritan", Jesus taught that the Samaritan, who reached out beyond differences to help a Jewish person who robbers had attacked, became a trustworthy neighbor to him.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion mean proactively transcending boundaries, accepting others as neighbors, and respecting each other's dignity in a diverse society regarding ethnicity, nationality, religion, culture, physical and mental characteristics and values. They are all foundational to Seinan Gakuin’s educational philosophy based on a Christian spirit.
The founding spirit of Seinan Gakuin is the legacy of its founder, C.K. Dozier, "Seinan, Be True to Christ". In the Christian spirit, Seinan Gakuin has been dedicated to pursuing truth and nurturing students to serve as creative and constructive leaders in local communities and global society.
We promise to be an institute where all people work together in neighborly love and respect each other’s individuality as a “gift”. Seinan Gakuin declares its commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in accordance with the following basic policies.

1. Sharing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as the Love of Neighbors
Seinan Gakuin will promote initiatives to acquire knowledge and foster awareness to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion among all people in the institute.
2. Respect for Cultural Diversity
Seinan Gakuin will strive to ensure that the cultural diversity, including nationality, ethnicity, language, and religion, of all people in the institute is respected in all areas of learning and work. Seinan Gakuin will create an environment where everyone can fully demonstrate their individuality and abilities.
3. Promotion of Gender Equality
Seinan Gakuin will promote gender equality in all areas of learning and work and strive to ensure that all people in the institute can take on their roles and responsibilities equally and fairly, without any disadvantages due to gender.
4. Respect for Diversity of SOGIE
Seinan Gakuin will establish a consultation and support system to ensure that the diversity of SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression) of all people in the institute is respected in all areas of learning and work and that people can feel safe demonstrating their individuality and abilities fully.
5. Understanding and Support for People with Disabilities
Seinan Gakuin will make reasonable accommodations based on understanding everyone’s conditions, characteristics, and needs. Seinan Gakuin will also establish a consultation and support system to ensure that all people in the institute can feel safe to fully demonstrate their individuality and abilities.
6. Promotion of Universal Design
Seinan Gakuin will promote efforts toward universal design in all areas of learning and work to ensure that all people in the institute can safely and fairly demonstrate their individuality and abilities without feeling inconvenienced or burdened.
